Dottie is a three-year-old Dane/Catahoula/Dalmation mix (we think!) that is just sweet as pie.   She came to us from the Newport Animal Shelter at 86 lbs having had puppies approx 6 months ago.   Dottie is affectionate to the point of being needy, gentle, devoted, and good-natured.   She mothers the other dogs, by licking their ears and lips affectionately.   She is shy, likely due to undersocialization, and will run from strangers.   She bonds quickly and is a real couch potato, preferring to sit beside you or on your feet at all times.   She will sleep on the bed or floor, whichever you ask of her.   She seems to not know her name very well, and will need a fenced in yard or committed leash walker.   She loves kids and ignores the cats.

Dottie has been with us for two weeks now, and is really blossoming!   When we first received her, like many shelter dogs, she was timid and untrusting of new people.   Now, she is our Little Miss Meet and Greet!   Dottie LOVES kids, and is a great family dog.   She likes all types of other dogs, from Danes to Dachshunds, and never bothers the cats.   She is much more manageable on a leash than some of our big boys, and likes to go to the dog park and on walks.   She is an amazing, dear, snuggebug of a dog, and we just think the world of her.

River is a two-year-old Blue Merle female Great Dane mix.   She's approximately 100 lbs of pure love and devotion.   River has good manners, is smart, and well behaved.   She does well with meeting new dogs and gets along best with males and dogs of all sizes.   She loves kids, and playing in the yard.   She also likes to hike and take walks, and go for car rides to the local fast food joint for a plain double cheeseburger, no onions!   River is a gentle, family friendly girl looking for her forever family. Troy is a two-year-old blue merle male who is the product of a broken home.   Troy is very special, and he has had a hard life until now.   He does not trust strangers, and he does not seek affection or attention from people he does not know.   In a home, he needs a patient, dane-experienced owner to help him realize that no one is going to hit him, beat him, and that petting can be enjoyable.   He can jump fences with ease, and MUST have a 6 foot fence.   He gets along well with other large females and some males once he gets to know them.   He cannot be placed in a home with small dogs or cats, no exceptions.   He seems to like kids, as they are less intimidating to him, and he will follow them around willingly.   Troy needs a quiet, non-dominating owner who is content to lavish him with love, treats, and affection.
